UC Will Cut Admissions to Pay for Strike

Weeks after approving a historic contract with the graduate student union, the UC system is considering cutting admissions to pay for salary increases. It is important that student workers get paid fairly, but cutting enrollment could negatively impact research output and the undergraduate experience. As the strike demonstrated, graduate students are the epicenter of the UC system and their labor helps bring an excellent educational experience to the future of our state.

The UC Regents needs to turn their financial resources and attention towards graduate students, and come up with a comprehensive game plan for pay increases. Additionally, more funding from the state would mean less enrollment cutbacks for grad students and help the UC system meet its needs.
