Youth Discrimination in LA Politics

Protestors in the Culver City High School District, mainly elderly and middle aged residents, are pushing back against a 19 year old school member due to his age. Triston Ezidore was elected as Culver City’s first teen school board member and promised to give a voice to students. He believes his critics are trying to uphold a dated system that discourages young people from taking elected office.

Adults often criticize young people for not exercising their right to vote, so why are they so mad at a young political leader trying to do his civic duty? Triston Ezidore and young people like him are representing students like no adult ever could. They are passionate about educational equity, and represent the future of our state and our democracy. We need to support youth in politics!
